Dynamic Glow in Northern Ireland: Lucy & Gareth’s Wedding Day in Belfast City
In a world of big weddings and grand gestures, Lucy and Gareth chose simplicity, and it made their morning unforgettable. With a quiet ceremony at Belfast City Hall, a stop at their favorite café, and a joyful brunch with family, their day was full of meaning, not spectacle. This is a story about doing things your own way, keeping it close to the heart, and finding beauty in the small, personal moments.
Lucy Wood and Gareth McCauley shared a low-key but poignant first look by the entrance to Belfast City Hall. It set the tone for the day, quiet and personal, before they stepped inside for the ceremony. The building felt familiar and well suited to the occasion, bringing a sense of formality without ever feeling overwhelming.
Lucy and Gareth’s Belfast City Hall Wedding, Northern Ireland
A Peaceful Start at City Hall
No fuss, no crowd—just a simple walk up the steps and into the marble corridors. A short ceremony, lots of smiles, and it was done. Photos outside captured the moment, but the atmosphere stayed relaxed and real. The couple looked classical and stylish in their outfits.
Back to Where it Began
After the ceremony, we walked through the city from City Hall to the Merchant Hotel, where a close family celebration with tea was waiting. Before that, we made our way to the spot where they first met, stopping along the way to capture a few photographs that reflected the places and moments that have shaped their story.
The route also took them back to Established Coffee, where they had their first date. A place that then became a regular stop for them, where they often met Amy and Dean Salmon, Lucy’s sister and her husband. Over pie and drip, which had become a new Sunday tradition, they tried something different each week. Photographing Lucy and Gareth there felt grounded and honest, reflecting the small routines that have become part of their story.
We also stopped at one of Belfast’s most recognisable streets, famous for its neon umbrellas and the words overhead: “There are seven types of rain in Belfast… Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.” It’s the kind of spot that instantly reads as Belfast, and the umbrellas added colour and energy to the images without feeling staged. Lucy and Gareth moved through it naturally, letting the city be part of the story.
Brunch at The Merchant
After the ceremony, we walked through the city from City Hall to the Merchant Hotel, where a close family celebration with tea was waiting. Before that, we made our way to the spot where they first met, stopping along the way to capture a few photographs that reflected the places and moments that have shaped their story.
Lucy and Gareth wrapped up their morning with a brunch at The Merchant Hotel - family speeches around a table of joy and laughter provided a bit of time to take it all in. The Merchant provided a selection of pastries, rolls and locally sourced yoghurt pots.
